"If we are not using a K12 computer (provided to families that qualify), what computers or devices are compatible with K12 websites and programs?" Unfortunately, many portable devices do not support the software products required to run the Online School. These devices may include (but not limited to): Chromebooks, iPads, iPhones, iPods, Kindles, eReaders, and the newer Android phone.
"Are we required to track attendance? What happens if my student is sick and cannot make it to class?" The good news: you are not required to track attendance for your student! However, we do take class attendance just like any other brick-and-mortar school. If your student cannot attend the full 6 hours on a given school day, you should report their absence as soon as possible. You can call our office at 7636562800 or email our attendance office at [email protected]. Please note that we follow state and county laws and policies related to attendance. For more information on attendance or truancy, please see #AttendanceMatters.
"What materials are sent to my student? How can I track those shipments?" You have the ability to locate all of the required materials for each of your student's courses throughout the school year and track their shipments. During busy times of the year, K12 asks for your patience for materials to arrive. Some classes will have physical materials, but many will not and solely operate online through the OLS (Online School). In most cases, your student can start class immediately - please contact the course teacher if you have any concerns.
"If I have a question, who should I ask?" Contact your student's Community Engagement Specialist or HR teacher for questions regarding: - Getting started - Classes/coursework concerns or organizational help - School records and updating your contact information - School policies
Contact your student's teachers (Directory) for questions regarding: - Where to get started in coursework - Specific assignment or course comments or concerns - Academic-based issues or questions
Contact K12 Customer/Tech Support (8665122273) for questions regarding: - Setting up Learning Coach and student accounts in the Online School (OLS) - Logging in to and using the OLS - Technical assistance accessing Class Connect sessions - Technical assistance with K12 computer requirements
"What if student has a job that requires them to miss live classes and/or not meet attendance expectations?" It is important for an Employment form to be filled out if live classes or attendance expectations are to be impacted during any school day. The employer fills out the majority of the form. Students should email Alysia with the completed copy so we can include that in their file and reference this when absences may need to be excused. Excusing absences is to the discretion of the school and this flexibility may be withdrawn at any time if a student does not stay in good standing with passing grades and regular attendance.
